Niagara Falls... At 56 metres (180 ft) high, the American Falls is slightly higher than its Canadian counterpart. Its crestline is 328 metres (1075 ft) wide. The American Falls look spectacular at night, when it is lit with various combinations of colored lights. Over the last century the American Falls has undergone a dramatic face lift due to natural forces of erosion. The natural bedrock is composed of soft shale and limestone. Over the years the continual flow of water causes large sections of bedrock to fall and remain at the base of the cataracts. Geologists predict that eventually the American Falls will transform into a succession of descending rapids. Cooperstown... The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is a not-for-profit educational institution dedicated to fostering an appreciation of the historical development of the game and its impact on our culture by collecting, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting its collections for a global audience, as well as honoring those who have made outstanding contributions to our National Pastime. Rockwell Museum of Western Art, Cooperstown, NY- The American West is usually defined as the country west of the Mississippi. But this ignores the existence of earlier ³Wests.² The western frontier, once located in eastern states including New York, retreated constantly before the tide of new settlers.Just as there is no single true West, there can be no single kind of Western art. Artists in the West respond to the people, places and ideas that have shaped and been shaped by the West. The Rockwell Museum of Western Art works to capture some of this earlier ³western art² for all to enjoy. Lake Placid...
