We invite you to DuQuoin, Illinois, site of our 2009 International Rally! Settlers began arriving here in 1819, and the area grew when the Illinois Central Railroad built its mainline here in 1853. We are housed at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds, located in the heart of Southern Illinois, near the bottom of the valley formed by two of the world's mightiest rivers. The grounds highlight more than 600 carefully sculpted acres of grass-covered hillsides, elven sparkling lakes and ponds all of which feature year-round fishing and leisure time activities.
We will be situated close to: Numerous Antique Stores, Specialty Shops, Wineries & Hunting Clubs, plus Rend Lake, Pyramid State Park, The Shawnee national forest, and Southern Illinois University and the SIC Arena of Fine Arts & Entertainment.
Our optional tour preceding the rally will take us through Randolph County, where Illinois began. Popeye's likeness waits to greet us in Chester, at the Bridge. This is the birthplace thanks to Chester native, E.C. Segar. From there we will visit the Fort Kaskaskia State Historic Site, where we will see the remains of the fort that protected the city. Garrison Hill Cemetery is located on the Fort grounds. You will get a glimpse of what life was like in French colonial times. It's a rally you won't want to miss! Call today and sign up!
